For all the Momma's :)

This is for all the moms out there!  Seriously, do any of us know what we are doing?  We really don't. It's all a trial and error thing, most days.  Some days we have great wins and we remember them with fondness. Then, there are days where we fail.  I'm not talking about a little thing like you forgot to send in a school form.  I'm talking about the big things - we just blow it with our kids in a situation that they will remember for the rest of their lives!

What do we do in those moments?  I believe how we handle those moments will pave the way for our kids to learn how to handle themselves when they blow it when they become parents.  It's going to happen, so why not prepare the best you can.  Here are a few lessons I've learned from my blow it moments:

1.  When you're wrong, admit you are wrong. It's ok to let your kids know you don't have it all together!

2.  Pay attention to the little details.  They are important and they do matter.  That small detail in a story may be the one thing that was the most important thing to hear.

3.  Keep secrets and just assume all things are secrets.  That way, you never mess up and say something you shouldn't have.

4.  Don't be so hard on yourself. It's easy to get in the "I blew it" trap where we take on so much guilt we can't move past it .... when our kids have already long moved on.

5.  Say "I'm sorry!" And mean it!  I don't think that needs any further explanation.

The best thing abaout parenting is we have a amazing Heavenly Father that guides us as we walk out this journey of trial and error.   Psalm 127:3 tells us that children are a heritage from the Lord.  It takes wisdom to know how to steward the heritage we have been entrusted with.  Additionally, James 1:5 promises us that God will give us wisdom if we ask.  So, know you are not alone in this thing called parenting!    Parenting is hard work but the most rewarding work we will ever do!  Enjoy the journey and thank God for the privilege of taking the adventure!  Stay strong, mom, YOU CAN DO IT!
